William Galletly

October 9, 1947 — June 14, 2010

Galletly, William, age 62, of Fords, NJ passed onto eternal life during a valiant and heroic battle against cancer and with Dominic Fuccili, his best friend and devoted caretaker who kept a continuous bedside vigil at his side. Dearest son of Edna May Galletly of Passaic, NJ, he was predeceased by his father Alexander Galletly in July 2009. The youngest of three siblings he leaves behind sister May LoCascio and brother-in-law Salvatore of Passaic and Sister Linda Dianas-Kleinkopf and brother-in-law Allan of Clifton. He is survived by his two children, son Michael Galletly of Parsippany, NJ and daughter Kim Galletly and her significant other Vincent Sorrentino of New Milford, NJ, as well as Kathy Galletly, a dear friend and former wife(mother of his children). He was "Uncle Bill" to nieces and nephews Salvatore Jr., James, Darlene, Debra and Joanne and their spouses and beloved uncle also to their children. Bill received his BSW degree from Kean University where he graduated Cum laude and had been looking forward to proceeding with his masters' degree at Fordham University this fall. Employed by the Dept. of Military & Veterans Affairs he currently worked at NJ Veterans Memorial Home in Menlo Park where he was elected and awarded Employee of the year for 2009. He leaves behind a multitude of caring, supportive co-workers who were also treasured friends. Bill was also previously employed by G.O.D Trucking Co. in the accounting dept. as well as Schuster-Conway Eastern Express. He at one time also taught Ballroom Dancing (Joan's Tango Partner). Always very proud of his Scottish heritage he always attended the Scottish Festivals and his love of travel also took him to Tuscany, Italy as well as the Holy Land of Jerusalem. He will be sadly missed by many loving and caring friends and most endearingly Wally & Joan who were like extended family. His family greatly appreciates the competence, kindness and compassion of the 3 East Oncology Staff of Booker Cancer Center at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, most especially the Nursing Staff RN's Lisa, Ben, Chuck & Nicole, MSW. Funeral from the Powell-Marrocco Funeral Home 470 Colfax Avenue Clifton on Saturday at 9:15 am followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Philip the Apostle RC Church in Clifton at 10 am. Interment Cresthaven Cemetery. Visiting Friday 2-4 & 7-9 PM. In Lieu of flowers, those who wish may make contributions to William's favorite Charity honoring his name and to attention of Tanesha Beane for Hope Lodge NYC 332 W. 32nd Street, NY, NY 10021
