Sondej, Stanley, 89 of Clifton on March 6, 2011. Born in Passaic he attended St. Stanislaus Kostka RC Church and School and remained an active parishioner there. Mr. Sondej was a Guard Operator for American District Telegraph (ADT) until retiring in 1986. He had also worked at Presto Lock Company and for Julius Forstmann Woolen Mills. A World War II Veteran of the USNR he served on the USS Alabama in both the Atlantic & Pacific Theaters. He was a member of the Garfield Elks Club Lodge No. 2267 and a 50 year member of the I.B.E.W. Beloved Husband of 63 years to Emily (Kopec) Sondej who predeceased him in 2008. He was also predeceased by a brother William Sondej of Garfield, and sisters Tessie Salay of Clifton and Frances Bukowski of Linden. Mr. Sondej is survived by his daughter Mrs. Dorothy Cervine of Clifton and son Kenneth Sondej of Midlothian, Virginia, grandchildren Christine Klopotek of Wisconsin Rapids, WI and the Rev. Mr. Keith M. Cervine of Perth Amboy, NJ and two great grandchildren Corinne and Emily Klopotek. Funeral from the Marrocco Memorial Chapel 470 Colfax Avenue Clifton on Thursday at 10:15 AM followed a Funeral Mass at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church at 11 AM. Visiting Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Interment St. Michael s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Garfield Elks Lodge 2267, 68 Lanza Avenue, Garfield, NJ 07026.
