Salvatore Michael Gagliano

September 19, 1948 — June 8, 2020

It is with great sadness that the family of Dr. Salvatore Michael Gagliano announces his passing on June 8, 2020 at the age of 71 at Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC. Sal was born September 19, 1948 in Passaic General Hospital to predeceased parents Mary Berezny and Emanuel Gagliano. Sal was raised in Garfield NJ, graduated from Garfield High School (1966) and Wagner College (1970) where he played football with the Wagner Seahawks. He earned his medical degree in 1974 from UMDNJ (FKA NJ College of Medicine and Dentistry). He went on to practice as a board certified Obstetrician Gynecologist for 40 years in Passaic and Clifton NJ, bringing 7,000+ babies into this world and touching the lives of countless families and patients. He resided and raised his family in Passaic NJ and later retired to Brigantine NJ. He is survived by his devoted wife and best friend of 50 years, Vern Gagliano, (nee) Bongiovanni, of Brigantine NJ, and children Manny Gagliano (Marie), Gina Gagliano (Ryan Sullivan), and Lana Monte (Gregg). Sal will forever be remembered by his 9 grandchildren, his numerous nieces and nephews as well as his extended family and dear friends. Sal had a vigor for life, he loved to golf, garden and cook, he was just as talented a chef as he was a surgeon, he was happiest behind the stove feeding those he loved. Always remember his generous heart, which was just as large as his personality. At Sal’s request, there will be no funeral services, we ask that you celebrate life and Sal’s memory. For those who wish, please consider a donation in his name to Wounded Warriors or Memorial Sloan Kettering, or to the charity of your choice.
Arrangements by Marrocco Memorial Chapel – 470 Colfax Avenue, Clifton.
