Ruth Zavaglia

Zavaglia, Ruth(Davis) of Bardstown, KY on May 18, 2006. Beloved wife for 61 years to Francis Frank Zavaglia. Loving mother to Ronald of Texas, Joseph of North Carolina, Karen Kelly of Bardstown, KY, Rita Riley of North Carolina, Carol Mc Kinley of Ohio, Jacqueline Mc Glone of Freehold, NJ & the late John Zavaglia. Mr. Zavaglia was also survived by 15 grandchildren & 5 great grandchildren, and 1 cousin Billy Bauke of Texas. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, she lived most of her life in Freehold, New Jersey before moving to Florida for several years and to Bardstown in 2001. Mrs. Zavaglia was Past President of the Rosary Society at St. Peter the Apostle RC Church in River Edge. She was a Girl Scout & Boy scout leader and taught Physical Education at Our Lady of Mercy School. In her last year of high school Mrs. Zavaglia performed in the Sonia Heine Ice Scating Competition. She competed and won the 1942 Miss Iceland Competition and was presented the trophy by Sonia Heine. After graduation she was employed by many Hotel Ice Shows. While she was working at the New Yorker Hotel in NYC, she was ranked as Line Captain as very honorable position. Funeral from Marrocco Memorial Chapel 470 Colfax Avenue Clifton on Monday at 10:15 AM.
