Krehel, Ruth (Weil), 87, of Pelican Island/Seaside Heights (formerly of Clifton) passed away on May 15, 2015. Beloved wife of the late Michael Krehel. Loving mother to Walter of Clifton, Keith & his wife Karen of Wayne, Stephanie & her husband Robert McLaughlin of Pequannock and the late Michael. Grandmother of Bobby, Patrick, Maria & Keith Steven.
Ruth was born in Passaic and she spent most of her life in Clifton. Soon after graduating Passaic High School in 1946 she married her high school sweetheart and they recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Their journey together took them to Lewisburg Pennsylvania, Rockland County New York and Clifton where they lived from 1967 to 1997. Since this time Ruth lived in Pelican Island.
Ruth was an avid Jet and Giant fan. Her passion was gardening and yard work. Regardless of the heat and humidity, Ruth spent all of her free time outdoors, crabbing at the shore house, weeding, pruning, and tending to her tomato garden. Ruth loved horses. She recently told her family her only regret in life was not living on a farm and owning a horse. Ruth enjoyed classic movies. Her DVD library was well stocked with John Wayne and Bette Davis films. She had a special connection to Bette Davis. Ruth was an energizer bunny as she sat just long enough for a crab lunch and then proceeded onto the next task. She was incredibly proud of her family and we were proud of her. Her kids always came first. Words can not express our sense of loss but we take comfort knowing that she is reunited again with her husband and devoted son Mike.
The family will receive their friends and relatives on Friday 4-7 pm for a memorial gathering at the Marrocco Memorial Chapel 470 Colfax Avenue Clifton
