Marjorie Aurelia Walcott, of Clifton passed away on December 25, 2015 after a brief illness. She was born on March 4, 1939 to the late Louise Hinds and James Cumberbatch in Port-of-Spain Trinidad. She immigrated to the U.S. in the late ‘60s.
Marjorie was a retired Registered Nurse who remained active in the profession and was employed by Patient Care of Clifton, NJ on a part-time basis working at St. Mary’s Hospital in Passaic. Her nursing career spanned over 30 years and included working at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital in NYC before moving to New Jersey’s Passaic Beth Israel Hospital and later Passaic General Hospital.
She loved spending time with family and friends, enjoyed traveling and was quick to say yes to an opportunity to have fun. Marjorie also gardened, swam regularly, loved to dance and was very active in the life of her church.
Beloved wife of the Augustus Walcott (2002). Cherished mother to Leonie Taylor of Queens, Denise Lewis and her husband Alvin of Paterson and Roger Robinson and his wife Sharon of Bloomfield. Loving and generous grandmother to Fikisha, Rhea, Tiffany, Ryan, Elron, Marshea and Raschad. Dearest great-grandmother to Amaya and Cedric. Loving aunt to a host of nieces and nephews. Surviving siblings are Mervyn, Angela, June and Jacqueline. She is predeceased by her brother Selwyn (10/2015), whom she lovingly cared for.
Relatives and friends will be received on January 4, 2016 from 1:30 pm – 4:00pm and 6:00pm – 9:00pm at St. Pauk’s Episcopal Church, 451 Van Houten Street, Paterson. (Corner of Broadway and E. 18th Street).
Funeral Services will be held on January 5, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Paterson followed by Interment at East Ridgelawn Cemetery in Clifton.
