Krystyna Witek of Elmwood Park, previously of Hawthorne, New Jersey, entered eternal life on Friday, January 26th, 2024, she was 68. Beloved wife of the late Michael Witek. Devoted daughter of Lesia Zawojska and the late Yaroslaw Zawojski. Loving mother of Roman Witek and his wife Tania, Danny Witek and his wife Ivanka. Grandmother to her five grandchildren Olivia, Andrijko, Yarema, Lucas and Emma. Krystyna is survived by her brother Bohdan Zawojski, Yaroslaw Zawojski and wife Maryann. Also by the late Maria and Robert Jahnke, sister in law Vicky Kotlar and husband George Kotlar, brother in law Ihor Witek and the late Grazyna Witek. Krystyna is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. Krystyna was born in Ronino, Poland, on June 12th, 1955. On June 14th, 1976, at the age of 21, Krystyna moved to Clifton, NJ where she married the love of her life, Michael Witek on June 9th, 1979. Krystyna worked at numerous international oceanic shipping companies for over 25 years. Upon retirement, she decided to work part time at NOVA UA credit union at both the Clifton and Botany Village branches. Krystyna took most pride in being a nurturing grandmother, which included helping raise her five grandchildren. Krystyna was a proud and prominent member of the Ukrainian American community. She was a member of the Ukrainian American Youth Association parents committee (CYM), Passaic branch of the Organization for the defense of Lemkivschyna (OOL) member of the Ukrainian center, parishioner of Saint Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, where she volunteered countless hours. Krystyna loved to be in the company of her family, friends, children and grandchildren. She loved to travel, attend cultural events, go for walks, and spend time on the beach, especially on family vacations to Wildwood Crest, NJ. Visiting will be held at 2 - 4 pm and 6-9pm, Parastas at 7pm on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at Marrocco Memorial Chapel, 470 Colfax Ave., Clifton, NJ 07013. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am, on Wednesday, January 31, at St. Nicholas' Ukrainian Catholic Church, 217 President St., Passaic, NJ 07055. Krystyna will be laid to rest in St Andrew Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery, 280 Main St., South Bound Brook, NJ 08880. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to be made to the Ukrainian American Youth Association of Passaic.
