Joseph Pampanin

November 8, 1923 — July 31, 2013

Pampanin, Joseph A., 89, of Clifton on July 31, 2013, born in Clifton, NJ, he lived and studied in the region of Cadore, Northern Italy, where he obtained a degree in teaching. During World War II he was drafted into the Italian Army. As a young outdoor enthusiast he enjoyed fishing, hunting and he tutored and guided many skiing and mountain climbing groups, especially on his beloved Dolomiti Alps. Mr. Pampanin returned to the US in 1949 and again took residence in Clifton. He was a former member of the American Society of Travel Agents. He was a 45 year veteran of the travel field. He also did considerable work with many immigration and naturalization offices and US Consulates in several foreign countries, mainly to reunite families separated by wars and political circumstances. He was a past officer of the Italian American Family Association and the Old Friends Beneficial Club both in Clifton and an honorary Life Member of the Knights of Columbus Immaculata Council and a parishioner of Sacred Heart RC Church- Clifton. Mr. Pampanin is predeceased by his beloved wife Magda (nee Dillinger), by his sisters Viola Rizzotto, Clelia De Ghetto and his brother Peter. He is survived by his sister Evelyn Buoro of Rome, Italy and several nieces & nephews in the United States and Italy. Funeral from the Marrocco Memorial Chapel 470 Colfax Avenue Clifton on Tuesday August 6,2013 at 9:15 AM followed by a funeral mass at Sacred Heart RC Church at 10 AM. Interment - Calvary Cemetery. Visiting Monday August 5, 2013 - 4-8 PM In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Eva s Village 393 Main Street Paterson, NJ 07501 would be most appreciated.
