John Charles Utzig, Jr. October 10, 1931 - March 5, 2016
When you read this I will have gone to be with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Survived by my loving family, wife Glorian, children Carter and Cathlean Utzig of Charlotte, NC, Tracy Utzig of Basking Ridge, NJ, grand-daughters Meghann Utzig, Anna Carter Utzig, Catherine Giuseffi, Caroline Giuseffi and American Field Service son, Brian Leslie of Scotland.
Jack was the son of the late John Charles Utzig and Mildred Miller Utzig of Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania and Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Jack graduated from Lehigh University and worked as an industrial, plastics, and ceramics engineer. After a few years in the Submarine Corp, he worked on the early development of the use of plastics in many different fields including stained glass church windows, automotive parts and large plastics machinery. He liked sales development and research and helping to bring new products and jobs to our country.
He enjoyed photography, miniature ship and plane building, and playing a card game called seven-twenty seven with dear friends. In addition he loved traveling with his family all around the states, and after retirement, for 20 years, with Glorian all over the world. He lived life to the fullest and credits chelation for saving his life and giving him 20 extra years to live. He shared this with anyone who would listen. He lived life with gusto and saw only the good in people.
He was a faithful member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Wanaque, NJ.
In our son's words, "Honor him by reaching out to someone you love or has made a difference in your life and show them that they matter. Reach out to someone you don't know and pass along a random act of kindness. The world could use a little more love". Jack's has always said, "remember to love one another and keep your smile"
A memorial celebration of his life is planned for late March.
Cremation will take place by Cremation Society of New Jersey, Clifton, NJ. We invite you to leave messages to the family at
