John James Madden

After a courageous battle with cancer, our family regrets to announce the loss of beloved father figure, John James Madden. John, 81, was born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey, and worked as a longshoreman for the I.L.A. in Elizabeth, New Jersey for thirty-five years. His fifty-two years of marriage to the late Marilyn Madden (1944-2021), their late daughter Jennifer (1972-2021), and their three grandchildren, Angela, Kate, and Drew, were the shining lights of his life. John was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, friend. A man larger than life, who always had a smile on his face and a story to share. He enjoyed spending time with his three grandchildren and was always there to support them in their endeavors. John will be remembered not just for his personality and famously tough exterior, but his dedication to his family, infallible work ethic, and his kind and gentle nature to animals and people alike.
