John J. Ingrassia

May 31, 1935 — October 25, 2010

Ingrassia, John J., known by his friends and family as Johnny Boy , of Byram Township, NJ, passed away October 25, 2010 at the age of 75 after a brief illness. Born in Passaic, NJ, he is survived by his wife of 50 years, Constance P. (Gilmore) Ingrassia, their two daughters Dawn Ingrassia and Sharon Ingrassia Slosarik along with his son-in-law John Slosarik and his granddaughter Jennie Slosarik. He also leaves behind his siblings Donald Ingrassia, Linda Giovene Kimak, Robert Giovene and his wife Arlene. He graduated from Passaic High School in 1953 and Randolph Macon College in 1958. John retired in January 2001 as a Contracts Manager from ITT Corporation in Nutley, NJ. He was extremely active in community sports, including coaching for the Andover Arrows Midget Football League and the President of the Byram Girls Softball League and Byram Babe Ruth League. He also was an umpire for various recreational leagues. He is a former member of the Passaic UNICO and he was a proud founding member of both the B-Cliff Club and C.C.O. He served in the New Jersey National Guard for 19 years, retiring as a Captain. He was active in St. Michael s R.C. Church in Netcong, NJ serving as an usher for the past several years. There will be a viewing at Marrocco Memorial Chapel 470 Colfax Avenue, Clifton on Thursday, October 28 from 7-9 PM and Friday, October 29, from 3:30 to 5:30 PM and 7:30 to 9:30 PM. Funeral mass will be on Saturday October 30 at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel RC Church, 10 St. Francis Way Passaic, NJ. Interment will immediately follow at St. Nicholas Cemetery, Passaic St. Lodi, NJ. John will forever be remembered for his positive attitude, winning smile and his dedication to his family, friends and community. His spirit will live on in the many lives that he touched over the past 75 years.
