John Huntemann
After a brave battle with cancer, John has been called to sing with the Angels. Born in So. Hackensack, NJ August 21, 1940, John was 82 years old.
John graduated from Hackensack H.S. and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served on the U.S.S. Boston and was stationed in the Mediterranean before Honorable Discharge in 1964. He was proud to serve his country and also enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves, also with an Honorable Discharge.
John is survived by his wife, Dolores, of 43 years and called Pompton Lakes their home for all of their married life. He is also survived by his devoted son, Dean and wife, Sonia, and his loving Daughter, Dawn, and his caring sister, MaryAnn Eilert. Predeceased by Mother, Anna and Father, John.
Over the years John was employed as a warehouse manager for Knobler Co, Moonachie, and prior to his retirement, he was employed as a decorated Security Officer for Englewood Hospital, where he was known for singing through the halls to all the patients. He loved music and singing wherever he went; in restaurants, hospital s, doctors’ offices and to the neighbors and even the little kids at Halloween. He said as long as he put a smile on someone’s face, it made him happy. He enjoyed doing a little ‘wiggle’ dance too.
He always had fun doing his scratch-off lottery tickets and, even if he won $5, he was happy…”That’s the ticket”. He had a love for any animal that came to the back door, and wanted to help any child that was sick.
So now, the Doo Wop King is in Heaven and will be sadly missed and always remembered by all that he touched and made smile during his life.
Donations to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital or any animal rescue of your choice. I’m sure you will hear him sing “thank you”.
