John S. Glogiewicz

Glogiewicz, John S., 82 of Clifton on September 27, 2008. Beloved husband of Florence (Sautner)Glogiewicz. Loving father to Donna Glogiewicz of Passaic, Maryann Glogiewicz of Basking Ridge, NJ, John P. Glogiewicz of Clifton and the late Leslie Glogiewicz. Brother to Joseph, Chet, Josephine Delekta and the late Stanley Glogiewicz. Mr. Glogiewicz was born in Passaic and lived in Clifton for most of his life. He was the owner of Sautner s Delicatessen in Passaic for 30 years. He was a World War II Army veteran and was a parishioner of St. Andrew the Apostle RC Church in Clifton. Mr. Glogiewicz was elected to Garfield s 1st Hall of Fame. He captained the all winning Football, Baseball and Basketball Teams in 1943 and 1944. Co-Champs in football all state with Passaic in 1943. He made 1st team in football. Made Group IV all conference teams in football and baseball in 1943 & 1944. Made the Hall of fame in Baseball in Bergen County and Passaic County. He played baseball with the Garfield Jewells, Garfield Benignos and the Passaic Comets which won the Tri-County baseball Championship two years in a row. He also played with the Paterson Red Sox, He played Short stop with Wright Aero which won the Semi Pro State Championship in South Amboy, He was awarded the Dell Ava Memorial Trophy in 1942 as the best Athlete in football at Garfield High. Being an avid Bowler with several sanctioned 300 games. He served in the ETO as an Infantry Man with the 106th Infantry Division Amen! Mr. Glogiewicz was a member of the Knights of Columbus-Clifton and the Tri Club. Funeral from the Marrocco Memorial Chapel 470 Colfax Avenue Clifton on Wednesday at 9:15 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Andrew the Apostle RC Church in Clifton at 10 AM. Interment St. Mary s Cemetery. Visiting Tuesday 3-7 PM. Donations to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
