It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of
John “Jonji” Leo De Souza, 46, who left us on November 11, 2023.
He will be profoundly missed for the life he lived and the lives he touched.
John is remembered for his caring, humble and selfless way. John had a heart of gold. Always there if you ever needed him. Soccer has always been part of John and brazilian traditions. The love of the national team was always a passion he shared with his family. He was a huge fan of Professional Wrestling and he loved his NY Rangers and NY Jets.
John was a lifelong resident of Paterson NJ. A graduate of Don Bosco High School in 1997.
He worked as a CNA, Certified Nurses Assistant, in several health care facilities in the Passaic County area.
John is survived by his devoted parents, Albacir L. and Teresa M. (nee Remuszka) De Souza, along with his dear sister, Luciana De Souza-Gutierrez and her husband, Martin. The dear uncle of Lucas, Emma and Ariana Gutierrez and numerous relatives and friends who will miss his presence dearly.
Though his physical presence is no longer with us, John’s memory will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of all who knew him. His love, compassion and strength will be cherished forever.
