Jean Hudson, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2023, at the remarkable age of 102. Born on March 1, 1921, in Clifton, New Jersey, Jean was the eighth of nine children born to Agnes Makowka and Stanley Komsa. She is predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Arthur; and all her siblings Helen Matus, Frances Pisacane, Stephanie Bratko, Julius Komsa, Nellie Muzyka, Clara Murtaugh, Bertha Malik and Rose Atkinson.
In 1942 she traveled to Seattle, Washington to marry her beloved husband, Arthur Hudson. Together they embarked on a journey through various duty stations across the United States during World War II. After the war ended, they returned to their roots in Clifton to establish their family.
Jean and Arthur were blessed with four children: Arthur Hudson Jr., Debra (Bruce) Baumann, Bruce (Alice) Hudson and Judith (Stuart) Basseches. As parents, Jean and Arthur were unwavering pillars of support for their children. Their consistent love and guidance shaped their children into successful individuals who continue to carry their legacy forward.
Jean cherished her role as a doting figure in her grandchildren's lives. David (Elizabeth), Matthew, Ivy, Poppy and Kai were fortunate to have such a loving grandmother who showered them with positive reinforcement and unconditional love. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren Evelyn and Alyssa.
Jean will always be remembered for her honesty and strong work ethic. She approached life with integrity and dedication in everything she did. Her commitment to her family was unwavering as she balanced the demands of parenthood with grace and resilience.
10 AM Tuesday, November 7, 2023, family and friends will be gathering to proceed to East Ridgelawn Cemetery at Marrocco Memorial Chapel located at 470 Colfax Ave., Clifton NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made in Jean's honor to the American Heart Association.
