Janice Carter, age 76 of Clifton, New Jersey, passed away on February 28, 2022. Janice graduated from Clifton High School as part of the school’s inaugural graduating class. She worked for Coldwell Banker in Wayne, New Jersey for 36 years as an administrative assistant, helping others turn houses into homes. She is survived by her loving spouse equivalent of 35 years, Richard Baker; sister, Jacqueline Balas of Pinehurst, North Carolina; daughters Noel Kudla and Kristine Labanich; son-in-law, William Labanich; grandchildren, Brianna and John Labanich; and great-grand dogs, Tucker and Dolly.
Janice loved date nights on the couch with Richie, watching movies and enjoying each other’s company. While she enjoyed a night in, she also loved to travel with Richie, most notably to Bermuda, Florida, and Las Vegas. Janice also treasured trips with her family; she enjoyed annual visits to Wildwood Crest, New Jersey as a fun summer getaway as well as countless trips to Florida. Notably, she visited Disney World, Universal Studios, SeaWorld, Aquatica, and Volcano Bay with her daughters and grandchildren. Her family’s favorite memory of their Florida trips with Janice was during the Harry Potter ride at Universal Studios. Being the good sport she was, Janice went on this dynamic ride with her family despite her dislike for action packed amusement rides and preference for the ride “It’s a Small World.” She was always up for adventure because it meant spending time with her beloved family.
She also had a taste for the simpler things in life, like trips to the Shoprite supermarket with her daughter Kristine every Monday morning, and trips to Monmouth Park to watch horseracing with her daughter, Noel. She also loved going to casinos with her family and friends. Summertime was a special time for Janice. She couldn’t wait for Richie to open the pool in their backyard so she could enjoy the warm weather. The pool was not only an oasis but an opportunity for Janice to spend time with family and friends. Caring for this pool known as “Baker Beach” became a nice summer date day for Janice and Richie. Janice will be missed by all who knew her and her legacy as a caring, loving, and genuine mother, grandmother, and person will live on.
