Lombardo, Fred V., 91, of Woodland Park (formerly of Clifton), died peacefully surrounded by his family on April 20, 2011. Beloved husband of 65 years of Sarah (De Liberto) Lombardo. Loving father to Dr. Joseph Lombardo and his wife Mary of Athens, NY and Elaine Potkalesky and her husband Thomas of Clifton. Loving grandfather to Stephen and Helene Lombardo, Marisah Potkalesky, Andrew Lombardo, Philip Lombardo, Nicholas and Jaime Potkalesky. Great Grandfather to Vincent Lombardo and Victoria Lombardo. He is also survived by Raymond and Pat Vigh who were very special to Fred. He was predeceased by his siblings James Lombardo, Susan Russo, Angelina Gawrys, Mary Grillo, Carmella Lombardo, Costanza Lombardo and Marietta Lombardo. Mr. Lombardo was born in Passaic and lived in Clifton for 53 years before moving to Woodland Park in 2008. He was an Industrial Arts Teacher at the Clifton High School for 25 years retiring in 1982. He was a Coast Guard Veteran of WW-II and was stationed in Greenland. He was a member of the Regina Mundi Council 3969 Knight of Columbus, the Clifton Memorial Post # 347 American Legion, the Mussomeli Society in Garfield and was member and Past President of the Clifton Retiree s Association. He was Founder and member of the Joseph Grecco Scholarship Foundation. He was also Past Treasurer of the Carpenters Union Local 124 in Paterson; He was also Commissioner and Past Chairman of the Clifton Zoning Board of Adjustment for 13 years. He was a parishioner of St. Paul RC Church in Clifton. Funeral from the Marrocco Memorial Chapel 470 Colfax Avenue Clifton on Tuesday at 9:15 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Paul RC Church at 10 AM. Interment St. Nicholas Cemetery. Visiting Monday 2-4 & 7-9 PM. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Clifton Boys and Girls Club.
