Fanny Ross

July 25, 1923 — January 19, 2024

Fanny Ross (Conte) a lifelong resident of Passaic, peacefully entered eternal life on January 19, 2024. She was 100.

Fanny was born in Passaic, the first child of loving parents, Mary and Lawrence Conte. She was a graduate of the Passaic school system and early on worked as a seamstress in the Passaic/Clifton area.

She met the love of her life, Michael A. Ross, and they wed in 1959. The two were inseparable, and set a powerful example of mutual respect, trust and love for the next 34 years. Upon the birth of her first and only child, she retired from working and dedicated her life to creating a nurturing home environment filled with comfort, happiness and love for her family.

Fanny was a person of great faith who found strength and comfort in God and was a lifelong parishioner of St Anthony of Padua Church in Passaic. She was an active and caring woman who spent most of her life thinking about others. She had a passion for music, theater and sports, attended the opera and plays, and could be found on Sundays watching football. Some of her happiest moments were found in the kitchen, where she loved to cook, bake and create elaborate meals.

She preferred to be surrounded by her family and friends, which is where she felt most comfortable and loved. In her later years she could be found holding court at the kitchen table, sharing recipes with them or proudly communicating the accomplishments of her three grandchildren, who were truly the pride and joys of her life.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Michael A. Ross, her sister Catherine, and her mother and father, Mary and Lawrence Conte. She is survived by her loving son Michael Ross, daughter-in-law Robin and her cherished grandchildren, Sarah (and husband Nick Stevens), Michael and Caroline.

There will be a Funeral from the Marrocco Memorial Chapel – 470 Colfax Avenue, Clifton on Friday at 10 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Anthony of Padua RC Church in Passaic at 11 AM, followed by an entombment at Calvary Cemetery.
