Welsh, Elizabeth Jane (nee Durgett) - For whom the bells toll - Our beloved mother, Elizabeth Jane Welsh (nee Durgett) departed this world on February 29,2012, her hand held by her children and grandchildren, sister, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, brothers-in-laws, niece and nephews. She was 85 years old. Daughter of the late Elizabeth and Joseph Durgett, Elizabeth, a retired registered nurse, enjoyed immensely her career at Saint Josephs Hospital, Paterson. She married her loving husband, the late Edward Welsh and became the devoted mother to five children. Elizabeth was an active member of Saint Phillip the Apostle Church and dearly loved the Rosary Society. Her kindness, grace and loving heart was displayed to all. Elizabeth is survived by her son, Robert and his wife Norma, daughter Elizabeth Avella and her husband Douglas, son Edward and his wife Susan, daughter Jeanne and her husband Morris; her adoring grandchildren, Eric, Kristen, Kimberly, Aimee, Adam, Lindsey, Jillian, Jenna, Nicholas, Chelsea, and Gregory; great-granddaughter Emma; granddaughter-in-law Christen; her devoted sister Jeanne Seergy and husband Charles; brother-in-law James Murray; niece Marybeth; nephews, Michael, Dennis, Charles, Patrick and Joseph. Elizabeth was predeceased by sister, Catherine Murray; nephew, James Murray and niece Marilyn Keenan. There will be a private burial followed by a memorial mass at Saint Phillip the Apostle R.C. Valley Road Clifton, New Jersey on Thursday, March 8th at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to "Murray House" c/o Department of Persons with Disabilities - Diocese of Paterson. 1 Catholic Charities Way, Oakridge, New Jersey 07438.
