Elizabeth Anne Meier, (nee McGovern) of Pompton Plains, NJ, entered eternal rest after a brief illness on October 28, 2024. She was 72 years old.
She was born on August 6, 1952, in Woodhaven, NY and lived there until 1974, when Liz met her husband Kenneth while employed at the Bank of New York, and moved to Clifton, NJ. She raised her family there. Liz spent the majority of her career as an accountant at the Passaic County Technical Institute and retired in 2022. She was involved with the Women of Irish Heritage and the Pequannock Ladies Golf League.
Liz found such joy with her husband, Ken, who predeceased her in 2013. Together, and with friends, they loved trips to the Jersey Shore, skiing in Tuxedo, NY, playing a round of golf, and more recently spending time with the grandchildren she cherished and adored: Shea, Ava, Bailey, Carly, Fiona, Marlowe, Trent, Sloane and Tanner.
Survivors include: her daughter Danielle and husband Danny of Roxbury, NJ; son Doug and wife Jessica, of Fairfield, CT; stepson Ken and wife Jennifer, of Forest Hills, NY; stepson Gavin and wife Olga of Cold Spring Harbor, NY; and the aforementioned beautiful and talented granddaughters and handsome, baseball-loving grandsons.
Liz was the baby of the family and affectionately known as Betty Anne to brothers Owen McGovern and wife Susan of Cincinnati, OH; Bill McGovern and wife Pam of Auburn, MA; her sister, Mary Walters and husband Joe of New Hyde Park, NY and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
