Elfreda Powell, of Passaic, NJ entered eternal life, Saturday, April 29th, she was 83. Elfreda was born in Clarendon, Jamaica, on December 21st, 1939 to John and Josephine (Spencer) Powell. She emigrated to the United States in 1970, first living in Paterson, and finally settling in Passaic. Elfreda had worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in Passaic, starting in 1972, and retiring in 2004 as an Instrument Technician. Elfreda was an avid Bingo player, and enjoyed traveling to Resorts in Atlantic City to play the “one arm bandits.” She also enjoyed playing her Lotto.
She is survived by her devoted and loving family; her daughter Monica Briscoe, her son in law Alexander Mitchell, her three grandchildren, Alicia Thomas, Natasha Briscoe and Jonathan Mitchell. She is also survived by her three cherished greatgrandchildren, Brionna Johnson, Tyler Johnson and Trinity Mitchell; and a sister Lilein Irving.
The family will celebrate Elfreda’s life and memory on Saturday, May 6th, 12 noon to 3pm at the Marrocco Memorial Chapel, 470 Colfax Avenue; Clifton, New Jersey 07013.
