David DeLucca of Hewitt, passed away on March 12, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. David was born on October 3, 1954 in Verona, NJ. Son of Harry DeLucca and Margaret Johnson DeLucca. David was raised in Wayne, NJ and graduated from Wayne Hills High School where he excelled in music, playing saxophone and oboe. He developed his love of marching band and drum corp, performing with the Wayne Monarchs, Hawthorne Caballeros, and The Redding Buccaneers during their 1980 DCA World championship winning season. David was very proud of his time with drum corp and shared this special interest with his son Cameron.
In 1990 David’s job with Sebastiano Transport moved him to South Carolina where he continued to fulfill his love for music by performing with the Converse College Wind Ensemble, Spartanburg Jazz Ensemble, Spartanburg Community Band, and The Caliente Band. Most recently Dave had great enjoyment playing with Ramsey Wind Symphony.
In 2004, David moved his family back to NJ where he worked and retired from UPS. David was the most devoted husband and loving father. He cherished his time with his family and made sure he was at every possible event and activity for his sons Cameron and Bryan. He was an active Cub Scout/Boy Scout dad, roughing the elements on many camping trips, building derby cars and whatever else was asked of him. A Special Olympic dad, baseball dad, hockey dad, and marching band parent where he was on the crew so he never missed a show. He loved every moment! He never left the home or ended a phone call without saying that he loved them.
